Most Doctors Believe This Vital Organ Is Useless, They Are Wrong !!

Today's blog was inspired by an argument I just had with a Medical Doctor (which will remain nameless) This blog is dedicated to you Doc !!

Lets talk appendix.

A common belief held among the majority of health professionals (as well as the general public) is that the appendix has no use.

This belief was introduced by the famous geologist Charles Darwin. He theorized that the appendix was a remnant organ from our prehistoric ancestors and that it's function was to digest tough foods like leaves and tree bark.

Research has proven this theory wrong. (Sorry Darwin)

The appendix plays key roles for the immune system. It is a storage site for beneficial bacteria, helps grow B Lymphocytes (a type of immune cell) and assists in the production of immunoglobulin A (a class of antibodies)

The appendix also manufactures specialized messengers that direct lymphocytes to different locations throughout the body.

As I mentioned above, beneficial bacteria are stored in the appendix. Extra probiotics live there.
When ever we are sick, or are depleted of beneficial bacteria, these hidden bacteria can mobilize to populate our digestive tract. These friendly bacteria help digest food, make vitamins, and help battle funguses, viruses, and bacteria.

Should we be yanking out appendixes?

Acute appendicitis could be a life threatening medical condition, especially if it is about to rupture.
Clearly if your doctor tells you this is the case then you have no real choice. The problem I have is when after the appendicitis is treated and cured with antibiotics the doctor persuades people to surgically remove it in order to prevent it from possibly rupturing in the future.

I personally wouldn't remove my appendix if that scenario was presented to me knowing how important the appendix is.

For those of you who have had your appendix removed, I highly recommend a good quality probiotic supplement, as well as some form of fermented food be used on a daily basis.
